The Christchurch Free Wi-Fi initiative is a collaborative effort to enhance digital inclusion by providing open internet access to all residents and visitors in the central city. Powered by gigabit fibre broadband, this service allows users to stay connected while exploring the city's vibrant attractions, from the Riverside Market to Te Pae Convention Centre.

Smart Christchurch has played a crucial role in the delivery of this project by providing Council infrastructure, such as streetlights, for the installation of wi-fi equipment. Additionally, the Council's existing internet connectivity was utilised to ensure a seamless and robust network. This collaboration highlights our commitment to enhancing digital services and connectivity for the community.  

This initiative is part of a broader effort to make Christchurch a more connected and digitally inclusive city. The service is also now available in key locations, including Cathedral Square, the Arts Centre, and the Botanic Gardens.
