SmartView was developed internally in 2017, pulling together data from a range of public and private organisations to create a comprehensive and accessible web-app. Over time, SmartView has seen significant upgrades, with its largest to date occurring at the end of 2023. This upgrade resulted in a new, modernised interface and improved data structure.

The platform now offers over 70 datasets, including popular ones like park assets, free Wi-Fi areas, cycle routes, and even the locations of publicly accessible fruit trees to forage. The continuous development and upgrades ensure that SmartView remains a valuable tool for enhancing the way people interact with the city.
